01. Explore on foot in winter
Savour the silence and the purity of the snow, treat yourself to the pleasure of walking through fields and forests on snowshoes!
In just a few minutes, you reach the magnificent Corvo lakes, bewitching in any season!
From the village of Piazzola, drive up to Cavallar. The walk starts at the Cavallar car park just above the village at an altitude of 1,450 m.
The little mountain dairy offers one of the finest views over the Val di Rabbi, whilst footpath 108 leads up the valley of the Rio Lago Corvo stream.
After crossing the stream, you reach Malga Caldesa Alta from where, via a grassy slope with views of the Brenta Dolomites and the Presanella range, you reach Rifugio Stella Alpine Lago Corvo (2,425 m).
The route is 11,8 km long, with a climb of 982 m. For a truly magical experience, why not stay overnight in the rifugio (a mountain lodge), waking at dawn to climb the Cima Collecchio summit (2,954 m) which offers expansive views over the Val di Saènt.
Then descend to Passo del Giogo Nero (2,825), a mountain pass where footpath 107 leads along the mountain side to Rifugio Saènt Dorigoni.
For more information, see the Lago Corvo walk from the Stelvio National Park authority..
