High-Difficulty Trek to Malga Villar Alta in the Heart of Val di Rabbi.
This high-difficulty trek takes you to Malga Villar Alta, located at the foot of Monte Villar in the heart of Val di Rabbi. At this malga, you’ll find cows grazing in the pastures, and the milk is used to produce excellent butter and cheese.
The malga can also be reached by following the Via delle Malghe, a hiking trail connecting various malgas in the Stelvio National Park.
Directions to Follow:
Starting from Rabbi Fonti, take the SAT 109 trail, which follows a gravel road through the forest. The path ascends steadily, reaching Malga Monte Sole in about 9 kilometers. Here, we recommend taking a break to enjoy the views of Val di Rabbi and the surrounding peaks while savoring traditional dishes of the Solandra region. After passing the malga, follow the signs towards Malga Villar Alta, which is about 2.5 kilometers further. Finally, you’ll arrive at the malga, surrounded by lush green pastures.
Alternative Route:
It is also possible to reach Malga Villar Alta starting from the Fontanon Parking Area. From here, follow the signs to Malga Cercen Bassa and continue until you reach Malga Villar Alta. This route offers a beautiful journey through the forest and alpine meadows, and is a great alternative for those looking for a different experience.
