MALGA MONTE SOLE

- Difficulty: medium-hard.
The starting point is the Plan car park, near Rabbi Fonti in the valley bottom, close to the Terme di Rabbi spa. The route follows the forest track, running alongside the Rabbies river, as far as the bridge over the Rio Ragaiolo stream, where you take the road that leads uphill towards Malga Fratte. Near to the bridge, you will see a fork in the road with one track leading gently downhill to the Venetian sawmill and the steep path climbing up to the Ragaiolo waterfall. Follow the forest track as far as Malga Fratte Bassa, then pick up the footpath to the ruins of Malga Fratte Alta. When you reach this old dairy, follow the level footpath running just below the cowshed. Continue in this direction to Malga Monte Sole Bassa (from here, using the forest track, on a trail which is compacted by a snow cat, you can also reach Malga Monte Sole Alta). The route from the spa centre to Malga Monte Sole Alta is regularly compacted by snow cats, making it ideal for walkers and sledging. The route of the SKI ALP ski touring event. Return to the starting point on the broad forest track which, via a series of hairpin bends, leads down to Fontanon, near to Malga Stableti. Keeping this building on your right, continue downhill to the starting point. Always pay attention to the avalanche risk.
