In the Val di Rabbi, we can offer them plenty of nature, fresh clean air and playgrounds which are lots of fun!
A circular trail completely immersed in the Stelvio National Park, which first leads to Malga Stablaz Alta and then reaches Bait Forborida, closing the loop by passing through Malga Stablasolo.
This trek will allow you to explore some of the lesser-known corners of the Val di Rabbi. Starting from the Coler parking area, you will walk towards Malga Stablaz Alta, passing first through Malga Bassa. Here, take a short break and walk along the wooden bridges to better admire the Val Maleda waterfalls. Then, continue until you reach the upper malga, where you can enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. Proceed on to reach Bait Forborida at 2,131 meters, and then close the loop by arriving at Malga Stablasolo, where you must stop for a delicious homemade dessert before returning to the starting point.
Directions to follow
Leave your car at the Coler parking area (during summer months, you can reach the parking lot by taking the StelvioBus shuttle). Pass by Rifugio Fontanin (1388 m) and take the left path called “Fauna Trail” until you reach Malga Stablaz Maleda Bassa (1731 m), where the waterfall will greet you with its roar. Take a short break to admire the waters cascading over the rocks, then follow the gravel road for a few minutes until you reach a fork on the left, which is marked with signs for the “Via delle Malghe” leading to Bait Forborida. After a steep section, you’ll reach the pastures of Malga Stablaz Maleda Alta, where the trail becomes gentler. Crossing some streams, after about 30 minutes, you will see Bait Forborida at 2,129 m. Here, you can enjoy a spectacular view of the entire Val di Rabbi and the peaks of Monte Sole, Cima Verdignana, Monte Vilar, and Croz della Luna. Continue for a short distance until you see the Stelvio National Park signage, which will direct you to descend towards Malga Stablasolo (1543 m). Here, you absolutely must stop for a slice of cake or, if you haven’t eaten, a great dish prepared with local products. To return to the starting point, just follow the downhill switchbacks along the gravel road that will bring you back to the parking lot.
